The 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 is pleased to showcase the outstanding work of two of its leading academic schools: the 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗝𝗠𝗖) and the 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗣𝗦𝗛𝗔).
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication presents an insightful field report by 𝗖𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗵, our young JMC student, demonstrating the practical skills, professionalism, and commitment to ethical journalism that characterize the University’s training.
At the same time, the Institute of Peace Studies and Humanitarian Action highlights the successful completion of its 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 to the Far North Region of Cameroon. The study tour enabled students and faculty to gain first-hand experience of humanitarian realities and peacebuilding challenges through direct engagement with affected communities and key stakeholders.
The delegation visited the 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽, met with internally displaced persons (IDPs) and former hostages in Zamai, interacted with youth leaders, and engaged with IDPs in Domayo. The team also held consultations with 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗡𝗚𝗢𝘀), 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗖𝗦𝗢𝘀), 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀, and other development partners working in the Far North Region.
Beyond providing practical learning opportunities, the study tour generated valuable insights into the humanitarian and development challenges confronting displaced populations, host communities, and vulnerable groups. The observations equally provide important lessons for understanding the humanitarian situation in the 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗻, where conflict-induced displacement and human suffering continue to demand sustained national and international attention.
At Heritage University Institute, we remain committed to 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, preparing graduates who are professionally competent, socially responsible, and capable of contributing meaningfully to sustainable peace, humanitarian action, and national development.
